How To Gain Respect

To understand the importance of respect, observe the difference in how people treat you. When people respect you, they are nicer to you and they value your thoughts and actions. The opposite is what happens when people don’t respect you. Low respect equates to low trust.

Leadership is like a table and respect is one of its legs. Without respect, people will simply put up with you and they will try to find a replacement as soon as possible. Undoubtedly, they won’t cooperate well with you either.

How To Gain Respect:

1. Respect Others

Always remember the Law of Attraction. The more you give something, the more you get it. People will say “You’re welcome” only if you say “Thank you” first. Appreciate the efforts of others and treat them kindly. Show that you care about them as an individual.

Treat others how you want to be treated.

2. Be Polite

It takes very little effort and it has a very big impact. People might not appreciate each instance of you being polite but they will remember when you are not polite. Always keep this in your head.

3. Show Good Qualities

Imagine a person who always arrives on time, finishes his work and shows great confidence. You would definitely consider this person worthy of your respect. Now be that person so you are worthy of being respected by others.

4. Always Do Your Best

Doing your best shows more than just diligence. It shows that you take your responsibilities seriously and that you prioritise the quality of your work. Consequentially, people will trust you more.

5. Be Considerate

No man is an island. If you want to be successful, you need to work with people and every person has their own perspective in life. Look through the eyes of others and try to understand things from their point of view.

6. Be Assertive

A man who cannot make a firm decision is never respected. Do your research, consider all your options and then make a decision. Make changes along the way to adapt to changing situations but never turn back and regret your decision.

7. Speak Your Mind

Assertiveness alone isn’t enough. You must have the courage to voice your opinions and face the criticism that comes after. Learn from your mistakes and consistently improve your mind. This is how you develop critical thinking.
